New year, new website

Happy new year to you all.

We're starting the new year with a new and more simple website. I (Theodor) have had a very busy time coming in to the new year. I've been very busy with school and work lately, but thankfully it has come to an end ... for now.

Enough about me, lets get down to business.

New website

I've chosen to scrap the old website I coded from scratch. The website was full of bugs and lacking features because I didn't keep working on it after we made it public. It doesn't make any sense spending so much time coding a website from scratch when we really should be spending it developing our game.

Therefore I've chosen to build a new website on top of a pretty new content mangement system. There's a lot of features needed, but for now it's fine for the purpose, so we can spend time on stuff that matters.

We'd really like to hear your thoughts and ideas about our game and blog posts, so hopefully I can implement a comment system or a forum some time down the road.

Citizens of Laniakea Development

Well I've passed all my exams, and even though my next semester is starting pretty soon, I'll hopefully be able to keep a decent pace.

So what's been going on lately?

Well, I actually started developing the game from scratch. We started developing the game years ago while I still had a lot of stuff to learn (I still do and always will). But now we also have a much better idea what the requirements are for the game and it's therefore much easier to plan what should be coded next.

Don't worry though, I've been able to reuse a good part of the code and I've been able to develop the game close to the former state of the game very fast (using many hours where I should've been studying).

This time I've kept following the same architecture over the entire development phase, which makes everything so much more organized and therefore easier to keep implementing new features.

I'll keep developing the game as much as I can, and hopefully we can have some kind of gameplay demo out this year!

Last remarks

I know I haven't really been posting and keeping you guys up to date. I'll try to be much more transparent in the near future and keep giving you updates.

I've much more to share with you guys, but for now I'll have to end it.

I hope you all had a great beginning of the year.

Sincerely,

Theodor
